"The tears began to flow and sobs shook him. He gave himself up to them now for the first time on the island; great, shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to wrench his whole body." Pg.202
I think that this passage is imporant to me because i feel moved by this passage. This passage is about Ralph. Now let me tell you what Ralph has been through. To simply put it, Ralph has been through Hell. He has been chased, almost killed, almost burned, almost stabbed at. On an island with barbaric kids with spears trying to kill him, you would be scared. Especially if they are burning the whole forest down, trying to trap you and kill you. You have no where to run, no where to hide, no where to stay. Flames burning all around you, spears flying towards you, kids screaming, "Kill him!"Only to run and run and run for your life. I would freak out and run in all directions. Also, his friends died by the same kids who are trying to kill him. They died right in front of his eyes, and he could do nothing. I think that Ralph was really brave and i think that he controlled himself really well because when Piggy died, i thought that Ralph was going to go Rambo and kill them all. I imagined his eyes filling with rage and sorrow when his friend died. So basically, you can see what Ralph when through. However, he was brave and he was strong. He didnt cry, but he was smart and used his instinct to survive. He didnt give up but he kept on running and running, even though he was alone with no weapon. It was like the whole world was against him because he had no help, no freinds, no parents, no police, no one. He was alone on an island with a bunch of kids who have gone crazy with spears. Then, when they were rescued, Ralph just let it all out. "The tears began to flow and sobs shook him. He gave himself up to them now for the first time on the island; great, shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to wrench his whole body." He just let it all out and cried and cried. All the tears, the sadness, despair he had all clogged in his heart. He let it all out and just let it take over his body. From this, i was really moved because i can just imagine Ralph crying on the beach. Crying for his friend Simon and for Piggy.
