Current Situations in this World

There are current situations in the real world that relate to the book. Like in the book, the real world has betrayal and hate and violence as well. There are kids who do bad things like drugs, alchohol, smoking, murder, rape, etc. There are also kids who do random acts of kindness, show love, compassion, donate, serve, help, etc. Just like Ralph and Jack, there are kids who act like them. For example, North Korea and South Korea. The two Koreas were once united. They were brothers in harmony and peace and they had a good relationship. Just like Ralph and Jack, they were once brothers and friends who had good relationship. Then they splitted because of argument and different personality. North Korea and South Korea split becasue of the Korean War and because the USSR helped the North while U.S helped the South. They had a war which made them split and they still fight, even to this day. Not a few days ago, North Korea threatened to declare war if the U.S ever tried to intercept thier ships. There is still tension and threats going on between North Korea and South Korea like how Ralph and Jack fought and argued. There are many other situations similar to this in the real world. There is always good v/s bad, peace v/s violence, harmony v/s destruction.

  1. Although Ralph does end up looking like the good guy when Jack leaves the original group, it wouldn't really be fair to label him as a good guy in absolute terms. I liked your reference to North and South Korea. While one was focused on killing and destruction, the other was more focused on survival and prospering. I don't think that your first reference to the kids doing bad things was right though... Nice post.
